ART Poznań 2004

The works of over 200 artists as well as the offers of private and non-profit galleries will be presented during the largest review of contemporary art in Poland, ART POZNAŃ 2005. The second edition of the Art Fair will be held between 5 and 9 May in Poznań. Last year the Art Fair was visited by over 40,000 people.

ART POZNAŃ 2005 will exhibit almost twice as many works on an almost two times larger total area of nearly 10,000 square metres located in Stara Rzeźnia and Słodownia in Stary Browar. The historic interiors of Stara Rzeźnia [the Old Abattoir] will be the location of an exhibition of the most recent artistic achievements presented by non-profit galleries under the collective title New Art in the Old Abattoir, whereas Słodownia in Stary Browar will exhibit the works from private gallery collections.

ART POZNAŃ 2005 will be accompanied by the following thematic exhibitions:

-Horizon of Collisions, an exhibition which shows how art functions in a dynamic and conflicting reality (Stara Rzeźnia, Curator Marek Wasilewski)
-Love and Democracy, an exhibition of highly personal art in a social and political context (Stary Browar, Curator Paweł Leszkowicz)
-ASP Collection 3, an exhibition of artists who are associated with the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań (Stara Rzeźnia, Curator Piotr C. Kowalski)

ART POZNAŃ 2005 is to be a lens which focuses all the important phenomena in contemporary art. The Fair will exhibit both well-known names as well as those artists who have just started their careers. It will be a cross-section of almost all the areas of art: from painting and graphics to intermedia. Most of the exhibited works will be for sale with prices ranging from several hundred to more than several thousand zlotys. ART POZNAŃ 2005 is a unique opportunity to organise a meeting of a very large group of artists, gallery owners and the representatives of the institutions which affect art in Poland. The Fair will also include the following discussions and symposiums: Censored Art, The Art Market in Poland and Sponsoring and Culture.

The Art Fair will be held under the patronage of the Minister of Culture. Patrons: Ministry of Culture, Marshal of the Wielkopolska Voivodeship and Mayor of the City of Poznań
